My Cover Girl Research - Plaits

Plaits are a red carpet and catwalk favourite right now and whatever your hair length, face shape and style, there will be a style to everyone.

French plaits have been big on the red carpet, with Jessica Stam and Cara Delevingne working them with cocktail dresses. Fishtail plaits, too, are a favourite of the most glamorous stars, with Olivia Palermo regularly working them into her looks.

The award for the most impressive plaited hairstyle goes to Diane Kruger for her intricate 'do at the Oscars, though Blake Lively might have just stolen her crown with this amazing braid, by Rod Ordega.

From inverted pigtails to rolled-up buns to plaited headbands, The simplicity of the braided hairstyles certainly appeals to our senses and this is a look that we can rock on any odd day, whether at work or out on a date. The simple looks also extended to messy plaits that fell down the back with skinny black ribbons finishing them off. It is a bit of an urban vibe to it that makes it hard to ignore.

The strange looks on the Givenchy runway were complemented with slicked back hair pulled into looped plaits. The Giles hair was in low plaits with strands of loose hair pulled out around the temples for added texture. Mara Hoffman’s intergalactic braids inspired by the Star Wars series had us grinning at the references and the memories that washed over us while the models passed on by. Tiny braids were also added to the hair of the models at Zero + Maria Cornejo and Herve Leger.

I decided that for my cover I am defintely going to be basing

it around plaits seeing as they are currently such a big hit around catwalks, celebrities and high streets also since we have learnt plaits in our lessons with Kanika. I love the plaits Kim Kardashian has been rocking recently and I am thinking of giving my own spin on them and trying out those plaits.
