Catwalk Aw15 Terry Barbour look for jean Pierre Braganza

This lesson we did a catwalk Aw 2015 inspired look.

The look we did replicated was done by Terry Barbour and he created this look for jean Pierre Braganza. Very natural skin, Liner, Red cheeks.

<- This is the image that we tried to replicate.

Holly started off with a demo. She prepped the skin really well and felt around for any dry areas. She then primed the skin using natural radiance base by Mac as it's very good for dry skin and this helped to even the skin out as her model had some dry areas. She then used the strobe cream and mixed it into the face and body foundation in the shades C3 and C5 by Mac. She also pointed out not to be afraid to use your hands especially if you are going for that light coverage, using your hands helps to massage the product well into the skin. She buffed the foundation onto the skin and used her hands to press the product in afterwards ; I learnt that this technique really does help to give it that natural finish and works it well into the skin rather than it sitting as a mask like a full coverage foundation.

She then spoke to us about making sure pimples are covered well for a catwalk look. They want the skin to look flawless.

Therefore using a 219 mac thin brush she concealed pimples and areas that needed to be covered and dabbed her fingers on the product to let it sit. She also highlighted under the eyes and powdered around the T zone as she wanted the rest of the face to look dewy. This look would relate to the Beautiful and dammed trend by Mac. Very natural bronzer - to look just like a shadow. For brows she just used some clear brow set and brushed the brows up to replicate terry harbours look. She then moved quickly on the eyes as they are the main point of this look. Starting at the edge of the eyes and slightly winging out the line starting from the crease She then asked the model to close her eyes and continued taking the line into the inner corner by pulling the models lid upwards to see exactly what you're doing. If your model has oily eye lids, best is to put some powder on before as the black may drag down. Ask the model to open her eyes and look straight as it might look different to when the eyes are closed and you might have to crisp It up or possibly darken it. Then lining the upper lash line with the same black and brush 210 by Mac with a rounded edge to go half way down under the bottom lash line. Keep checking with your models eyes open as it might look different. She then drew the under Neath black line quite straight. Then to add the pink in like the image, she took a pink lipstick and an angled brush and applied this on by blending it down as it is not meant to look harsh. Here is an image below of her final result -

We then went onto creating the look ourselves. I used the exact technique that holly showed us as I wanted to achieve the perfect look.

Foundation - Face and body C1 using a 187 mac buffing brush

Concealer - Derma palette shades D1 & D2 applied using a royal concealer brush

Powder around the T zone - Kryolan translucent powder applied with a real techniques powder brush

Slight contour - Mac matte bronze using a contour brush from ebay

Highlight - Mac brule eyeshadow applied with a zoola 129 brush

Brows - brows brushed up using Mac clear brow gel

Eyes - Mac black track with a Mac 210 brush

Pink under eye - a mix of please me & lovelorn by Mac applied with my finger

Lips - Mac lip glass using a NO7 lip brush

Here is a small collage of my process

Over all, I do like the way that it turned out, however seeing as I am very picky, I wish that I adjusted the lines to her eye shape better. This is because my model's eye shapes were slightly different from one eye to the other. Therefore even though I placed the lines in equal place, when her eyes were open, They looked slightly different therefore I should have adjusted them more for each eye.
