Eyelash Application and Glittery Eyeliner

For this lesson, Holly was focusing on eyelash application. Therefore she kept the skin quite simple and told us to be focusing a bit more on contour and highlighting.

Simple liner, eye lashes and glitter lip. Holly started off with a demo.

For Foundation, she used Mac studio fix NC50 and Bobbi brown foundation palette to lighten it up. She also used a Translucent powder with fluffy brush.

We spoke about using Lash tweezers by Mac rather than regular tweezers as regular tweezers unlike the lash tweezers are sharp.

Always cut lashes from the outer corner if you're cutting the eyelashes for the models eye shape.

Ask the model to Look down rather than to close their eyes as you won't be able to see the natural eye shape and the eyes might stick together. Begin and end where the natural lashes finish and start. To remove lashes from the box, use your thumb to remove them slowly rather than pulling from the edges as they might tare. Put some lash glue on the back of the lash box and Use the back of a brush to apply it to the lashes to distribute it evenly. Wait around 20 seconds before applying. If the models natural lashes are not curly, curl them as you want them to blend very well with the fake ones. Place lashes in the centre and firmly press down each corner and hold the corners down, press up and in each corners. If there's a little gap, pull the lid up and push the fake lashes down to the natural lash line. Keep pressing until you know that they are definitely stuck and feel comfortable. Wait a couple of minutes before continuing with the makeup just to make sure that they are dry. If the fake lashes have an invisible line, take black eyeliner and fill in the gaps on the natural line. Add some mascara on after you apply the lashes to blend them into the fake ones. Use a disposable mascara wand and take some mascara on it to really take it back into the natural line to blend. Next she moved on to adding the eye liner. If you can see little gaps, you should really get that eye liner in between. Follow the natural line and draw the eye liner. Take a cotton bud and clean up the edges. Take a black coal eye liner and fill in the water line and right into the corner to blend it all.

She then finished it with the glittery lip which I explain in my "The Perfect Red lip, Ombré & Glittery lip" post.

Below is a picture of her eyelash application, eyeliner and glittery lip -

I then went on to creating the look myself. Since we were an odd number in class today, we were in a group of 3 therefore I only got to do half of the face.

Product breakdown in the order used -

Foundation - Mac face and body shade NC20

Mac full coverage foundation ontop in the shade NW20

Powdered with - Makeup Revolution Pressed Powder in Translucent

Countoured with - Ben Nye powder in the shade Sienna

Highlighted with - Makeup Revolution vivid baked highlighter in the shade peach lights

Eyelashes - Eyelure Naturalities super full 080

Eyeliner - Mac Black track

Mascara - Mac Haute and Nauthy Mascara

Lips - Mac Black track base and glitter pigment (black 3D) by mac on top

Cleaned up lips using mac select cover up in the shade NC 25.

Below is a picture of my result.

I loved this look and I am pretty happy with the over all turn out.

I did struggle sticking the eyelashes into the inner corner as my model kept on blinking and her eyes were watering a lot however, I did manage in the end. I would have much prefered to have applied thicker and fuller eyelashes with this over all look since it is such a bold look however I am very please with it.

Since I had extra time after this as we were in a group of 3, I tried out a glitter eyeliner on Holly. Below is a picture of my result :

I started off using mac black track as the base for the eyeliner using an angled brush. I then took another angled brush and mixed up the glitter (Black 3D by mac) and I mixed it with the eyeliner mixing medium. I then used a tissue to place it under the eye and I dabbed this over the eyeliner.

I found that the eyeliner mixing medium holds the product much firmer and did not have any fall out unline the water mixing medium used on the lips.

I loved doing this and I think that it has become more wearable nowadays!
