Maiyet AW14 PFW
The fashion show was held back at the Grand Palais in Paris, and the chic collection is a range of embellishments, textures and hand-finished touches.
Fabrics take center stage with sheer geometric lace and heavy velvets, while some textiles feature complex quilted fabrics, hand-woven silk jacquard and hand-beading. Also seen on the runway were small-scale abstract prints, patent leather and responsibly sourced Italian fur. Dark tones of black, plum, gray and olive were brought to life with accents in bright yellow and scarlet red. Equally impressive were the accessories, funky footwear, luxe bags, and lavish jewelry.

All Maiyet garments and accessories are produced by international artisans through beneficial partnerships that allow the workers to prosper and gain financial independence. Maiyet jewelry is hand-cast in Kenya, India and Colombia, while their leather shoes and handbags are handcrafted in Tuscany, Italy.

The brand’s fabrics are hand-decorated in Indonesia, and their knitwear is hand-knitted in Peru and Bolivia. Maiyet also has an ongoing partnership with Nest, an independent nonprofit organization that is dedicated to training and developing artisan businesses, in order to help revive the art of fabric weaving in Varanasi, India. Through its partnerships, Maiyet continues to bridge the gap between the luxury goods market and talented artisans working in poverty stricken areas

Breaking all the stereotypes that often are associated with eco-friendly clothing, three year old Maiyet offers a refreshingly diverse collection to rival any other established name. Ethics aside, the autumn winter 14 collection was full of texture, fusing quirky ready to wear with form fitting flirty pieces. An eclectic mix of wool, satin and sheer fabrics covering day to night looks.

The hair was kept fairly simple. Mostly middle parting and messily straight, some also had a side parting. I think it went well with the look seeing as the clothing was sheek and kind of casual. However.. if it were up to me I would have neatened it up a little more as the fly aways don't look good on camera.
Finally, my favourtie part of this was the makeup. U love the eye liner on the bottom lash line. It is slanting inwards at an angle, starting past the inner corner and then stops in the middle and continues again on the outer side. Complimented with a black bold smokey eye. This really stood out to me especially because they are wearing very little face makeup, the eyes just pop!
Personally I feel like it was put together really nicely and the mix of colours used go really well together. I love the yellow against black and think it makes such a good statement piece against the black.
