Brick roller set & French twist Updo
In this lesson with Kanika, she showed us properly how to apply a brick roller set as last lesson was just the last few minutes of the lesson and we only managed to get a brief introduction. Here is a picture of her showing us how to apply the rollers ( never directly behind eachother ) and also a demo of the french twist updo we tried to mimic.

Tools used: Rollers Setting spray Tail comb Denman brush
Paddle brush
Firstly I washed my dolly's hair and I then brushed her hair using a paddle brush. I sectioned the hair into a brick pattern. I took sections of the hair no wider than the roller and wrapped the hair round. To ensure a neat curl, I kept tension in the hair whilst rolling and tucked in any loose ends with my pin tail comb. I did this all over the hair, Making sure to secure each roller and making sure that none were placed directly behind eachother. Once the whole head was complete, I put the dolly under a dryer for 20 minutes. I later found out that I could have left her in for a little longer. Once done, I slowly removed each roller, starting from the bottom.

I achieved a nice curl throughout, also with some nice volume. I then had to brush it out in order to create the french twist updo. Below is a photo of the updo I wanted to create.

For getting this updo, you need to gather all the hair into your hand onto one side and brush the bottom hald of the hair in order to achieve a sleek look, and then you need to pin that side of the hair using bobbi pins and a cross over method to ensure that it is secure. You then need to twist the hair over to the other side and into itself in order to achieve the 'rolled over' look and then secure it into a long updo. Here is a photo of my attempt

I am quite pleased seeing as I have no experience in hair and it being my first time ever trying something like this.
